Ta for the great write up Tosh.

Butterstone report as follows.

With the mixed weather conditions and the Game Fair last weekend there was very little to report. The past week started off on the hard side but as the week progressed the fish began to play again with the weekend producing good returns. Intermediate lines and midge tips were the ultimate choice in the first part of the week but towards the end of the week the fish were moving up in the water so line choice altered to midge tips and floating lines. Fly choice was very mixed with fish being taken on very lightly dressed mini lures, Diawl Bach, Buzzers, Crunchers and even CDC Shuttlecocks. Water temperature is now ranging from 17.5’C to 17’C at three metres and water clarity is a nominal 1.5 metres.

The best areas are still the same as the past couple of weeks from the road shore down towards the lilies, tight into the reeds and also from the burn mouth to the end of the reeds on the opposite shore. Top spots at the moment though are the lily bay and the lilies to the left of burn mouth.

D. Prior 5 fish for 11lb 4oz, Messrs. Eadie and Campbell 10 returned on Tuesday also on Tuesday Messrs. Clark and Sutherland returned 10. On Wednesday Messrs. Strang and Rodger weighed in 10 for 23lb 6oz including a cracker weighing 4lb 8oz, Messrs. Gibson and Smeaton 12 fish for 30lb 12oz and Mr. Peline’s boat weighed in 11 fish for 30lb 4oz and returned a further 3. On the Club front Perth British Legion 14 fish for 29 lbs for 5 boats, Perthshire FC 24 fish for 59lbs 5oz for 5 boats, Perth Rotary 24 fish for 46lb 15oz for 4 boats, Balbeggie AC 39 fish for 96 lb 7oz for 7 boats, Stirling AC 26 fish for 66lb 11oz for 4 boats and St Serfs AC 25 fish for 59lb 2oz for 3 boats,

Conditions this week are mixed with heavy rain predicted for the later parts of the week and moderate winds due to die towards the tail end, average temperatures will be around 16’C

Hi There,

Good reports from Butterstone.

Does anyone know where you can get a map to find out where these places such as The Burn Mouth, Cottage, Lily Bay and Road Shore are located.

An idea of depths would also be useful.

I have only been to Butterstone a few times but always enjoy the day.

It is a very picturesque location and a good fishery and I am making my annual visit on Thursday.

I wish it was a bit closer....

Best Regards

robbie

The Burn Mouth, Cottage, Lily Bay and Road Shore are located.
Burn Mouth: Where the burn flows in
Cottage: opposite the cottage on the bank
Lily Bay: the bay that has lilies in it
Road shore: opposite the road you drive up to the loch.

Hi There,

I have always found Scottish Anglers to be great ambassadors for their sport and their country.

I suppose you need an exception to prove the rule........

Best Regards

Robbie.

Come ask me when you arrive. Average depth of the loch is between 6-10 feet and anywhere up to 34 feet where the cages used to be, there are a few holes around 24-26 feet one being just off the cottage.

Please find bellow this weeks report.

With conditions remaining the same over the last few weeks of showery and blustery weather the fishing has been slightly dourer of late. Fish are still being taken just sub surface on midge tip and slow intermediate lines on a mixture of small traditionals, Diawl Bach, Buzzers and lightly dressed mini lures such as the Mini Cat, Cormorants and Damsels.

The current recommended areas would be up at the top bay burn mouth, Lily Bay and down the reed beds tight in leaving the flies tight in the reeds and almost static.

A few anglers that did well over the past week in included I Yuill and boat partner Alex managed who weighed in a cracking bag of 12 fish for 32lb 8oz with five of them being hard fighting Butterstone blues. Also doing well was D. Keenan and his father who weighed in 8 fish for 21lb 10oz and returned a further 2. As usual Messrs. Campbell and Eadie had their fare share of fish successfully returning 16 and last but not least P.J Mackintosh weighed in 6 fish for 16lb 4oz.

On the Club front Veterans AC weighed in 20 fish for 57lb 7oz for 5 boats, Fife police 15 fish weighed in for 35 lb 6oz for 4 boats, Breadalbane & Cockburn AC weighed in 20 fish for 47 lb 6oz for 7 boats and Stanley AC managed 33 fish for 74lb 5oz for 6 boats.

Conditions yet again are forecast for blustery winds with light rain and sunny spells temperatures in the region of 18 – 20’C.
