Default Evening Fishing near Manchester

I wonder if any forum members can help with some ideas. I am looking for a place to meet up with a friend who is based in Manchester and has a preference for late afternoon / evening. Does anyone have suggestions for a ticket still water which is in easy striking distance?
Thanks
GD

Hi GD,

You could try Curley's, it would probably be about half way for you both? http://www.curleysfishery.co.uk/

I''ve never fished it, and forum members have posted mixed comments about the fishery, but it may be an option for you? There does appear to be plently of fish!!

Upper Roddleston Roddlesworth
http://www.go-fish.co.uk/venue_2347.htm

Walkerwood http://www.walkerwood.free-online.co.uk/ - but it's a bit futher out for you to travel?

Other options may be;

Westlow Mere - which is a lovely fishery and highly recommended is run by Congleton & District Fly Fishers (but quite a hike down the M6 for you)

Westlow Mere
Off Giantswood Lane
Congleton
Cheshire
CW12 2JJ

Tel: 01260 270012

Clay Lane Farm Trout Fishery?
Clay Lane Farm
Mobberley
Knutsford
WA16 7BH

Tel: 01565 873337

Dingle Reservoir
Off Belmont Road
Bolton
A 9 acre reservoir run by Dingle Fly Fishing club, day tickets from the Black Dog Inn, Belmont ???

Hope the above helps

I've fished at Clay Lane mentioned above. This is their website: http://www.claylanetroutfishery.co.uk/index.html

It's OK but nothing spectacular. What part of Manchester is your friend?

Thanks Moustique and SAB - Works in the centre and lives in Didsbury so he would probably prefer South to North. I am a member of PAAS so could fish the Dane during the day if I took it off!

Glad to help GD

The only problem with this area is the lack of decent fisheries, most tend to be 1 hr+ driving time, such as Stocks, etc.

If you are a PAAS member then you could fish Catchpenny(?) as an alternative to the Dane, and another posibliity to fish with your friiend is;

Marton Heath

A day-ticket fishery in rural North-east Cheshire, Marton Heath Pools has three two-and-a-half acre lakes stocked with rainbows and brownies which are open all year with fishing from 8.00am until dusk. Tuition, refreshments, flies, toilets and tackle are all available and the lakes are suitable for disabled anglers. Tel: 01260 224231. Address - Marton Heath Trout Pools, Pikelow Farm, School Lane, Marton, Macclesfield, Cheshire SK11 9HD.

I haven't fished there recently, but there are 3 lakes and it was a good fun water, not sure how it has been fishing recently?

Thanks - will have a look; Marton Heath sounds interesting.
