Been a while since I fished there but this is what I rememeber.

Its a fairly small water and it does get very busy at times. The water is clear in the margins but it is not a stalking water really, lures seem to do well there, possibly due to a higher stocking density to cope with demand. There are some monsters in there, but it is more a case of luck than being able to target them directly. Nymphs and dry fly can work at times but to be honest are not the best tactic and it does seem to draw the lure srtipping crowd more.

If you want a chance of a monster then give it a go, but if you want to fish a more natural choice of fly in quieter surroundings then this may not be the place (thats not a bad reflection on the place by the way, just the type of water).

hi chris i live close to this water can be testing at times good patterns to use cat wisker, ptn, dawsons olive, gold head daddy, and viva when they on black and green.judd the manager hold night fishing comps l8r in the year really good fun and its flood lit.some really big fish here so a good strong leader is needed i use grand max 12lbs i would'nt use anything under 8lbs here.also its very deep in places in front of the lodge and of the finger are good spots hope this helps mate.also lower llew is just 5mins away very good fishing here i fish most very good sport and its cheaper the reason why 12ponds for 6 fish tight lines regards chris

Not fished it for a few years now. Reason - price, the lure fishing crowd and specimen sized lardy fish. Believe me though a few do survive and wise up to the lures and I have had nice qualiy fish on dry fly (iron blue dun) of all things and size 16 nymphs. There again you could go to a real quality fishery where every fish is in mint condition - Garnffrwd.

Used to see photos of these monsters in TF,oversized lumps of lard right enough.
I could never understand these anglers wanting to have a photograph taken with these fish,
A lovely 20 lbs silver Salmon that's another story,
I would rather pull out a 4 lbs fighting blue Rainbow,
Than these lumps of putty.

Probably as good if not better than it's ever been mate. The quality of fish is just stunning. Goes to show what can be achieved if you grow your own on.

True - but it still feels weird driving all the way up that hill - well worth a visit.
