There are loads of threads somewhere about this.. I fish it regularly, and it's either the best, or the worst small still water in the country. the problem is, in the summer it gets too hot (in Lechlade) and the fish completely don't want to know. Lechlade has the big fish in it, and bushy a smaller average, but doesnt get as affected by the heat. It is VITAL that you call them a couple of days in advance to check it's not totally dead as you could come down and not get a pull. On the other hand, if it's fishing well, you'll have some wonderful sport with the biggest average sized fish in the country. best bet there is to stalk the margins, or fish from the swims at the island, or the point at the far end of the lake into the bays. either green/black marabou damsels, or static buzzers under an indicator work well at both waters. don't fish lighter than 7lb though, there are some massive fish in there...

Good luck, i look forward to your report. remember that it's hopeless in summer there though, and phone for the latest report. speak to JOHN who will give you the truth.. Here's hoping its fishing well for you.

Cheers

Get you tickets from the lechlade car park lodge for Bushy. the fishery is out the gate, turn left, go about 200 yards and it's on the right. follow the track about 1/4 mile and the lake will be right in front of you. either fish around the tiny 'island' or in woodstock (that's the wooded bit) if you're fishing from the bank waders are pretty much a must. last time i went there was a large pod of double figure fish in woodstock and the only way i could reach them was down to the boxers and wade in... a miserable sight for the other fishers...

Cheers bb might put in another appearence down there this time at bushy, aint got no waders ,last time i tried a pair on i couldnt get them over my thighs, was a fit young man thenlots of cycling now with dodgey legs and not great balance even without beer ,wading might be off the agendaI would have thought with the weather as it is , fish would be seeking the shadey areas or arnt they bothered at bushy, they certainly were at lechy
As for the fish i caught at lechy, im not sure i weighed them right, at frensham i had a couple of 4lbers , and i estimated them 2-3lb but by going off there size compared to the lechy ones , i do believe ive cocked up, cause theres no way they were only a couple of lbs heavier, but the weighing machine at lechy was showing the red light on lbs, im sure ,but even the next guy to weigh his fish was suprised it wasnt a doubleIve got a couple of pic with the fish in the net, i might see if i can estimate it from them, i used a carp net, not the biggest but big enough
Cheers Gaz

I'd get a boat out on Bushy then...! the Lechlade fish usually average around 9lb so i'd be very surprised if you were catching 5 and 6 pounders, unless they were the old browns from last year. That said, i havent fished it for a few weeks now, and the summer stock could be going in..?

fished this place today and it was very very hard going!!!!! did manage to take two nice rainbows about 8-9lb each. both of them on a small black buzzer fished under a strike bob.my two mates fished it as well and one of them manged to take 1 and the other one blanked!!!!!! this again was taken on a brown buzzer fished under a strike bob. this was the first time i had been to the fishery and was very impressed with the place and look forward to going back there some time. the people who where fishing on the boats done very well tho i think all the boats baged up quite early so next time i go i will be hireing a boat.
