It is with no small amount of shame that i must admit to 'fishing' this place.

DOn't.

the puddle is stocked with huge fish, and it's very clear, but it really is as close to fishing in a stock pond as it's possible to be. I went to look at it on spec, and i got there at 11am. it was empty as all the people had their limits. at the time (10 years ish ago) i was over-awed with the fish in there and duly handed over my cash. There's no facilities of note, but the fish were all in the 12-18lb class. I saw one of about 20 but he had one in his back!!

In the end i got 3 between 15-17lb which to be fair fought pretty well, but it was pretty pathetic fishing, if the truth be told. Apparently he has another lake with similar stock in it, that's much bigger. it would be so much nicer than this place. seriously, if you want a big fish, try and stalk one from somewhere where it's a challenge.

I really cannot see where the appeal is in fishing a place as discribed above, what is the cost of a days fishing there now £110 ish !!!. sure i can understand that a lot of work and expence has to go into rearing fish to this size, but IMHO to fish here well, you either have more money than sence or you have to be so desperate to catch a double. I think you would get more of a thrill hooking into a good over wintered fish on a water such as Chew etc. But its like anything else, if theres a market for it then you cannot knock someone for providing it i guess.tight lines....

It is a largish pond right next to the A30. Not quiet, not picturesque and apparently not challenging. If big fish are your thing Dever Springs is close by and Avington isn't too far either.
