Default Carsington....superb

We fished Carsington on Tuesday and it was fantastic. It was the first time we had fished there and we were impressed by the way it is run. The facilities are superb, the staff knowledgeable and friendly, the reservoir pretty and the fish hard fighting.

We caught plenty on Goldhead Hare's Ear nymphs and all the fish were hard fighting and in good condition, including a personal best rainbow of 5lb.

After a hard day's fishing we were packing up in the carpark and one of the young lads from the fishing hut (quite thin with a beard) came over and offered us both a cup of tea !! Now that is customer service.

It was so good we went again later in the week.

In my opinion it is the best fishery I have been to, so well ran with courteous staff and hard fighting fish. I think my experience speaks for itself in that we were so impressed we returned that week.

A well run fishery will continue to improve... if anglers are well looked after they are far more likely to look after the fishery, fill in catch returns, don't drop litter etc

My only disappointment is that we didn't discover it sooner.

Carsington......keep up the good work !!

Default Carsington

Sooooooooooooooooo much better than other large Ressies around the Country, Carsington is the best I have fished at, and my list of venues is pretty long. The longer it is undiscovered the better if you ask me - so edit the thread please .

I would have thought as its a Severn Trent run water, the more anglers there the better, shout about the place from the highest rooftops those shareholders will not be happy if it doesnt show a profit..............

I think all the Severn Trent ressies are franchised out now, but yes, if it doesn't make a good return it'll fold.

Any more recent reports? think of going this weekend

cheers

Carsington is a Severn Trent managed fishery, the only one they have.

Really? not what I'd heard but perhaps you're right. I probably ought to find out, being one your actual shareholders! (mind you, the income from fisheries is nothing compared to the income from the "proper" water business - I can assure its not the performance of the fisheries that affects the STW share price!).

Back on subject...coincidentally I've just had an e-mail with the latest reports and an apology for recent ones not being e-mailed out, and it still seems to be fishing pretty well, including a cracking grown-on 5lb brownie to a GRHE. Forecast's lousy for the weekend, but might still go anyway.

Jeff my mates were on there at the weekend and had a cracking day once they figured it out. Depending on the sun the fish were feeding at 1.5' to 3' down, slow or fast glass with a booby on the point to create washing line or the bung if you want to be lazy

Over lunch they fished buzzers on a bung with buzzers at 1.5', 3' & 5' and the bulk of the fish were taken at 1.5' when it was cloudy and 3' when the sun broke through.

Every fish was 2.5lb plus including a cracking looking 4lb 4 oz fish.

Thanks mate, that's very helpful. I assume from that they were anchored up? If the winds ok we'll probably on the drift to start with, as my "draycote buddy" is itching to give his "draycote buzzer" a swim and see what the big browns make of it (don't ask.....its about 4" long and usually attached to the end of a Di7..... Mind you, when it works, it really works). Anyway, I expect we'll get bored of that at some point (well I will) and we'll switch to some "proper" fishing!
