Default Crummock

Anyone fished Crummock/Buttermere lately? Looking at a trip this week, so any info would be welcome.....

hi fished it about 5 weeks ago took the boat out on crumock water permits and boat hire from waterend farm 01946 861465 fishing was as good as ever hope you have good upper body strength the rowing can be tiring tried a wee bid of fly fishing in the shallows around the islands and a bit of trolling the fly behind the boat also the ........... s worked quite well on the mounts all in all we had 9 broonies between the two of us biggest around 2lb mark also had a few perch, fished this 30 years ago as a boy and hooked a pike on the fly whilst trolling with a spinning rod 6lb line took 1.5 hours to get it to the boat took one look at the 2 lures sticking out its gob and deceided to give it a fly for its medals as well it was estimated to be around the 30lb mark was fishing with billie story fae workington who can verify story
have fun CF

The only lake you c,ant take a boat out on is buttermere both crummock and loweswater offer boats loweswater 2 only and crummock i think around 7 boats by this i mean rowing boats mind you as i posted before contacty mr leck 01946 861465 to book {boatonly} you will need a rod license from the national trust which will entitle you to fish all three waters and the adjoing rivers

Oh there is definitely a boat - we have it booked via the McKenzie's B&B.

phew thanks for that thought i was losing my marbles i think the problem with the lakes is that they are quite vast and if you wern,t peering at them with binoculars you wouldn,t actually see any boats on them

Must try Crummock one day, have had a look round but not fished it. Speaking of waters not allowing boats, no boats are also allowed on Haweswater and (I think?) Thirlmere. I wonder if Perch are making a comeback - I had 8 "footballers" on the fly from Haweswater last week - including 2 at once Not what I went for, but pretty fish nonetheless and a decent size, pushing the 1lb mark. Never used to get any from there but now every year I go I seem to catch more

[QUOTE=JeffR;245215]Must try Crummock one day,

well worth a visit if ur up that way most broons are around the 2lb mark but fish of 4lb + are quite common and there is allways the chance of a double figure monster just have a wee gander in the pubs around the lorton,loweswater area and marvel at pictures and stuffed trout trophy cases to see just how good the fishing can be both loweswater and crummock have a good head of perch and pike also char and ferox,Dissapointing thing is the lakes as good as they are are not really fished that much by the locals so the good thing about that is peace and tranquillity is to be had in abundance...
