Foremark fishing report weekending 4.3.12

Total rods for the week: 223, Total fish caught: 1,882, total number of fish released: 1,374 Rod average: 8.4

The season started on Thursday 1st March

A busy first day with 105 rods enjoying a tremendous opening days fishing with 1,112 fish being caught to a variety of methods form sinking line and boobies to floating line and buzzers.

The banks have fished best around Flamingo bay and the sailing club bay with intermediate lines teamed up with Cat’s Whiskers or Damsels. Bramble bay and Carvers arm have produced the better fish with a good head of over wintered fish showing, mainly to buzzers and small nymphs in the afternoons. The best areas for the boats has been the cascade and bramble bay fishing into the banks. Both pontoons have fished well.

Mr M. Reid, Mr G. Mann and Mr S Wilson all caught 5lbs rainbows and Mr S. Wilson also added a nice 2lbs 8oz Brown to his bag.

Lodge opens from 7.30am
Boats from 8.30am

Half of the stock gone in so far were 2lb - 4lb+
The other half were 1lb8oz - 1lb 12oz

The next stocking they are averaging 1lb 12oz

The stocking after that 3lb+

The 2012 stocking programme is going to be the same as 2011 which went down well last year.

Hello IFor thanks for getting back to me. You say last year went down well. yes catches may have been good but the size of fish which bothers us. in 2010 your stocking was imaculate the size of fish being pulled in were monsters. many between 4-6lb, the fishing was fantastic.
Then in 2011 you stated you was taking on draycote and we was told stocking would be the same next year for foremark. So as usuall me my dad brother and friends who took me on different trips fished foremark in 2011 and the fishing was no way near as good the year before.
The trout was small and we struggled to find the bigger fish unlike the year before. I asked you why the trout were smaller on here and you said because of the price the fish which made you buy smaller ones. yes we understand that price rises and so on but we feel foremark is being dimised because you are now running draycote and the fish that are going in there. We would rarther pay more to catch bigger fish even though tickets have risen.

Dont get me wrong Ifor we love foremark fishery the White family have fished it for many years as we will carry on doing. We just feel since you took on draycote foremark has suffered in fish size.

Rod numbers at Foremark for 2011 only dropped by around 300 & thats with me taking on Draycote, it would seem the majority of rods who we picked up from Draycote when it closed stayed with Foremark.

Smaller average size, than 2010 then yes but its no secret I have told the customers why prices went up & to keep the same volume of fish going through we reduced the average size from 2lb+ to 1lb14oz with a good number of 3lb+ fish going through.

Dismissing a fishery cant occur, they are a business, but as a business we need to run them to what we beleive the customer wants / and is prepared to pay. Yes I can stock more 3lb+ fish but would the customers be prepared to pay.

We firmly as did the near 7000 rods who fished Foremark last year beleive it offers good value for money. A full day motor boat for two rods £20.50 find a midland reservoir that matches that price.

Last year & the year before Foremark was amongst the top averaging fisheries in the midlands, Rod average 2010 was 4.6 last year just over 4 that consistant, and a better rod average than Draycote.

With a new long lease I can push ahead with improving the facilities, boats will start to be replaced from 2013, with over £10,000 been spent upgrading the pontoon this year.
