Had another frustrating but highly enjoyable blank on Malham yesterday

(Wed 21st May). the cold easterly coupled with sunshine kept surface activity at bay,so apart from a few chucks with an inter and nymphs,a Di3 with a team of mini lures/flashy dabblers etc was my M.O. for the bulk of the day.... if they're not gonna come to me,I'll go to them innit?
The wind was a good speed though, varying from a cord ripple to a 8" wave and allowing 1 hour long drifts right across the tarn and allowing me to fish my team exactly how I wanted.
Half an hour into the first drift the Di 3 went kinda 'heavy'....stripped and lifted...no fish. Carried on with the retrieve, hung, lifted and the then the clear water and my polaroids revealed a good 5lb fish turning away at the last second, literally 1' from the boat

Towards the end of the first drift I got a good solid hit on a red tailed dabbler on the point. Just about to bring the 3lb fish over the net and he found his second wind and went on another mission....just getting him ready for the second netting attempt and he fell off

......not happy. It was a wonderful Malham brownie,3lb+ ....one of those with a greeny tinge, rather than brown or gold.
No action for a couple of hours, then I got a tentative pluck to the inter with some seals fur DB's... stopped the retrieve, started again...bingo. A brief but brave scrap and my polaroids revealed this thing.....
A fine example of the marque, but not the exact brand I had in mind

1.75 / 2lb of pesky Perchness.
Pesky *******s Perch... beautiful creature and all that but no my cuppa... especially when one grafts on average for something like 10 hours per offer on Malham...then it's a piggin Perch
Anyway, the afternoon brought more fun and games... decided to give the wets a good old rip and was soon 'rewarded' with hooking a fridge! He went in the opposite direction as I lifted into him.....ping.Game over, insert coin
About 2 pm ish these little beauties began to trickle off....
Male Pond Olive? About 22/25 mm in length total (body 10/12 mm).
no interest to them on the surface, despite some extra warmth and cloud, and the wind steadying down a bit to provide a consistant cord ripple. Perfect!.... the fish had other ideas.
