Thumbs up Linlithgow

Guys , I dont usually post about club trips that i`ve been on but thought i would let you all know that Linlithgow Loch is absolutely fishing its heid off. Was there today and it was an absolute joy to fish midge tip and buzzers/cormorants with great results.........the east end of the Loch between the 2 islands is full of quality fish feeding hard on buzzers.......

If you fancy a good day out get yourself through there..........helpful knowledgeable staff as well...............if i stayed closer i would be there a lot more.........

Would have been a cracking day if I could have got our f*kin anchor to hold....just when we'd found the fish , we were blown past them at a fast rate of knots and spent 45mins trying to row into the wind to get back up there again ! That was basically our entire day....my arms are killing me

Fish were in great condition and as usual for Linlithgow they were in top fighting form.....the fishing is great (as are the fish) ..when you locate 'em.....just consider bringing your own anchor.

Never seen so many buzzer shucks in the water........best flies for our boat was Diawl Bachs and Buzzers...

Default Linlithgow

Stevie, we took an extra anchor with us thats how we managed to keep hold in the wind.............rowing was tough going , it took me and Harry on an oar each to get back to the jetty............

Wiremill, the best area for us was round the corner about 200 yards short of the 2nd island , 4 or 5 of our guys bagged up in this area , diawl bachs, buzzers and cormorants midge tips and SSI lines
hope this helps

Ah smart move Gus - i'll need to remember that next time we go. Yeh we were on an oar each as well trying to get round the point at the palace - thought for a while we might have to beach the boat !

The takes were a bit odd , trout seemed to be hitting the fly a few times before the take (so might be worth delaying the strikes a little bit) - same with you Gus ?

Dont know what they put in the water there but the bows really put up one helluva fight.

By the way - turned out the bag limit was 7 not 6 so technically nobody bagged up ! ......Dexie is now odds on for "**** of the year".

Have to agree with stevie and gus on the quality of the trout at linlithgow.
probably the hardest fighting fish I've come across, and I have severe friction burns on my index finger to prove it (no chance to get them on the reel).
I dropped 5 before eventually boating 3.
Now where did I see those finger guards advertised??
As stevie said the wind spoiled what could have been a perfect day out.
At 20mph wind, the so called anchor just wouldnt hold, and with no motor rowing was a killer. At one point both of us rowing resulted in us acually not making any headway at all.
I would stongly recommend that anyone going there should take their own anchor.
a bit af angle iron on a rope supplied in the boats is just hopeless.
but i'm looking forward to the next trip there.
Red head diawl bachs was the killer fly for us.

Gus,
when the klaxon went at 4.15, i thought it was a 15min warning.
but apparently we should have been in by 4pm!
somebody got the money wrong, the limit wrong and the timing wrong!
Definitley in the running for the A.O.T.Y.A. award.I think his name starts with a D!
By the way this is just banter! not a complaint.

Thumbs up limit on linlithgow

just to clear up the limit, on linlithgow. a day session from 9am till 4pm allows 6 fish killed and 6 fish returned after your first 6

an all day session from 9am till dusk allows 7 fish to be killed and 7 fish returned, glad you had good sport lads, as you say the quality of the trout is second to none in scotland, and has been for many years. tight lines all

No problemo......just banter as Huk said......I was no where near bagging up ! But I could probably make the Scottish rowing team now.

I'd love to fish it in calmer conditions and give the dries a bash.
