On the Lakes.
This week the water clarity has improved somewhat and we can now see the bottom of the lake and all the fish therein, which makes hooking fish that much easier and more fun.

Some good bags have been recorded, with some larger fish coming to the net. Top flies this week have been Cats Whisker, Damsel, Bloodworm, Daddy.


Fishing Tip

A simple way to empty the freezer....

One of the big problems of trout fishing is the ever filling up of the freezer with your quarry.

Well, this week, Steven Dye, a regular angler at Meon Springs, has kindly sent us the below recipe to make Trout Pate.

Blend the following ingredients to a thick gloop:

Cooked flesh from half a reasonable sized fish (say a 3 pounder)
3 or 4 chopped rashers cooked smokey bacon
300 grams cream cheese
1 tablespoon mayonnaise (or horseradish)*
1 teaspoon paprika
ground pepper
sea salt

(*We prefer to use mayo, as it has a milder flavour)

Put it into a flat dish, and put sliced lemon on top.

Enjoy.

Group Events

Open Cast & Blast
The Open Cast & Blast will take place on the fourth Thursday of every month.

The day will be run as a normal Corporate Day, with a 50 bird clay session in the morning and a fishing session in the afternoon, both with instruction.

We will also provide a bacon roll breakfast on arrival, a wholesome lunch and afternoon tea, with prizegiving.

The fee per person is £155 including VAT.

TROUTMASTERS
We've had a couple of good catches this month. Albie Elliott caught a 6Lbs 9oz fish on Whitewool Lake. And Albie Elliott (the same Albie Elliot) with an 8Lbs 5oz rainbow to a Daddy on Whitewool Lake.
