Very sad to say that Loch Ettrick nr Thornhill has closed.

As far as I know the land owner got greedy and demanded double the rent from Wullie who had brought the fishery on quite brilliantly last season.

I know a lot of members on here fished ettrick last year and enjoyed it very much.

I hope wullie finds another fishery as he was a breath of fresh air with his ideas and super stocking policy.

I heard today that it is under 'new managment' and I got the impression that you would have to join a membership to fish it - I'll make a few more enquiries and post back if I hear more . . . .

I heard that the guy's who run Jericho in Dumfries were looking to take it over as they looking for a new water due to 'eviction' but it look's like they have signed a new 5 year lease. I haven't heard any more about Ettrick and I don't know if anybody is 'in charge' as there doesn't seem to be a sign's up to suggest there is fishing available - shame really.

Its a shame the natural feeding in the loch is brilliant ,Ettrick was the best dry fly water I have fished in many a year I hope someone with Wullie's ideals takes over the loch soon.

If I lived closer I would try and do something.
