Default gludy lake

iain,
i have fished gludy each summer for five years. i can strongly recommend it as a weekend getaway with fantastic fishing.

I booked this years trip to Gludy for May. When booking the owner told me of a number of improvements they have made to the accomodation and other facilities. I can't wait to experience the 'new improved gludy'.

They have revamped their website since i last looked at it too.

Lets hope the fishing is as good as it was last year.

keep you posted
stu

Default Gludy Lake

Hi there
We fished Gludy lake at the beginning of September this year with a party of 6. After our initial excitement at the reviews, and the website we were left with a very different experience than expected.
Our party had 3 experienced anglers and 3 newbies who had been a couple of times before, which should have been no problem reading the reviews.
Over two days of solid fishing, 6.30 am through till 6pm both days a total of 2 fish were caught, these fish were landed within a minute and took considerable efforts to revive them.
The water had green and blue algae present, this noted also by previous anglers in the fishing lodge comments log.Infact when the sun shone it was impossible to see through any water at all as it resembled thick green pea soup. The lake also had extensive beds of weed, rendering at least over half the lake unfishable, and leaving no anchoring point availlable for the boats.
Gludy at one stage was clearly an impressive fishery, my advice would be to check on any improvements to the lake, current fish quality etc, before investing considerable monies for a less than enjoyable fishing experience!

Thumbs up Gludy

Gronko, i am surprised at your experience at Gludy, not what i have got used to. i try to get a group together twice a year to visit Gludy for a weekend.

We have always caught plenty of trout, some of which are the hardest fighting trout around. I have not seen any algae there, but it could be something to do with the time of year. You can expect some algae in the hottest part fo the summer.

I saw some weed at Gludy about 6 or 7 years ago, but not seen it return since then.
In my opinion, the fishing, the lodge and the setting are second to none.

will keep returning for more.

Stu
