Default Medow Fishery - Mickle Traffod, Chester

Hi All,

I am thinking of calling at Meadow Fishery after work on Saturday, I work in Chester so only down the road. Has anyone fished it yet this season, if so what's the low down? any good what patterns, methods prove best. Are they still suffering with weed problem they suffered last summer?

Thanks

Wezza

Smile Meadow Fishery

Okay, I'll answer my own question for anyone thinking of taking a trip to meadow fishery. Had a great aftenoons fishing, arrived around 12.30, the middle lake was closed due to a comp so we fished the first lake. Managed to take 5 rainbow trout, the best of those being a 5lb and 3lb 2 oz, 3 on green and white cats whisker, 1 on a bloodworm and 1 on a black buzzer.

a good day's fishing. I recommend it if you like your small water fisheries.

Default Meadow Fishery or Other Recommendations

Hi Folks
I am due to take a friend fishing this Friday (he has been 4 times over 3 years but would still count as a novice). I want him to have a reasonable chance of connecting. I have never fished this fishery (although I did buy my first fly rod there about 6 years ago). I am looking for something in reasonable striking distance of Manchester (Didsbury) which is where he lives. I live in Lancaster but this is only about 1.5 hrs away and I know the area as I used to live near Ellesmere Port.
Any one have any recent experience and know how it's fishing or recommend an alternative?
Thanks
GD

Talking

Meadow Fishery is my nearest venue,
I think it is very well managed/stocked etc.
I have read a few negative posts about it in the past but this was mostly to do with the management attitude to Anglers.

So, The 1st lake (Mallard Lake) has been reshaped and re-opened in April this Year.

Week days are excellent there, at weekends they nearly always have local club comps and it can be quite busy.
I suppose school holidays will make everywhere that little bit busier
The shop has to be the best in the north west for stock (maybe not prices?)
No Free Tea or Coffee :-(

Regards
Joe

According to friends recent visit dries were doing ok.
Orange and Green fritzy things pulled fast never seem to fail with recently stocked bows.

There is a small fishery about 15/20 mins drive from Meadow (into North wales) which would be great for a newbie and he would catch stockies in biblical numbers. and it is very cheap.
It will give a great confidence boost, Although you may find it tacky.
I will dig out the address if you are keen to visit.

Whatever you decide...Have a great session.

Arnfield by a country mile, I drive past Meadow Fisheries to get to it.

Thanks but I think we'll stick with a more conventional place - I had considered Pendle View which is closer for me but I want to have some sport as well!

I also like Arnfield and would choose it over many places but variety is the spice of life.
My fav place (@ the moment) in the North west is Mere Beck.
