Hello all
Has anyone fished Church Hill near Mursley recently?
I am going there soon and have never seen let alone fished the water. How is it fishing and how do you fish it?
Any pointers much appreciated

Default Church Hill

Went to see the water last year, but didn't fish it as they had a corporate day. At the time looked good, 3 lakes, top going down levels with fresh water feed. Lovely clear water and very shallow at margins with plenty of weed growth.

Advice I had at the time was floating line and imitative patterns depending on time of year, use any features available, bottom lake has a couple of duck platforms and central island where they mill about. The couple of anglers I spoke to said when it fished well was great with good quality fish, but when nothing doing can be dire.

Sorry not very helpful, but please post and let me know how you get on and if the prices have increased, fancy trying it out myself sometime this season.

Wink

Try small black lure on intermediate line, Black chenille or black marabou. Slow retrieve and keep moving.

How long would it take to get there from Cheshunt ? My eldest son lives there and he's just taken up fly fishing - he's on his way up to Lamcaster this w/e for a couple of days out with me but I'd dearly like to point him to some waters closer to home. Where else would you fish from Chesunt?
Thanks
GD

If he is in Cheshunt he should try Rib Valley (search the forum for my updates on it) which is about 15 mins from there.

Rib actually have an outing to Church Hill this Sunday, which I cannot attend but I will find out how it fished and post.

One of my buddies went to Church Hill recently to have a look. Caught quite a few, including a number of small, out of season browns which he put back.

Caught on a floater and nymphs.
