Dear Colin,
On the Lakes.
The River Runs through the valley once more and we are pleased to say that all of our lakes are now full of water.
Whitewool and Coombe lakes are fully stocked and Meon Beat will have a fair quantity of fish by the end of next week.
So, what's working?
Try damsels; a number of beautiful trout have been caught on this popular fly since our last update. Fish it mid-water or deeper and retrieve slowly.
Cats Whisker, and the white fritz have also been successful.

Fishing Tip
How to fish a competition
A number of the above events involve an element of competition. Some of you may consider this a bit daunting, particularly if you are starting out.
My advice to you would be don't worry - it's just a days fishing....
1. Be aware of the rules. Each competition is unique and has its own set of rules. Before the day, make sure you are familiar with the rules
2. Know your objectives. For example, is it biggest bag, largest fish, quickest time or a combination of all of that.
3. Take all of your kit. You won't know the lie of the land until you've drawn your peg. Better to take too much than forget something.
4. Be confidant. If you can catch fish on an ordinary day there is no reason that you won't in a competition.
5. Enjoy your day. As mentioned above, "it's just a days fishing" and if you are doing it for a charity, there will be a great atmosphere, with everyone having a lot of fun.
