Default Hayes Street Farm Bromley

Hello all,

Posted in the main forum a few days back that I am just returning to the sport after 15 years out so wont bore you with that again. I have found that I have a small fishery just down the road! Looking on Google maps it looks like a hole in the ground, not overly inspiring! However as I am really looking for somewhere where I can get in some casting practice I guess its as good a bet as any for an afternoon. Has anyone ever fished at Hayes Street farm? I can't find a lot of information about it on the net anywhere. I am working from home today so figured I might slope off there this afternoon

TMN - I posted a reply to you on general - i have only fished this venue briefly and not very successfully. You are correct that it is a hole in the ground - but as i have not had many hours here i would not like to comment - it is worth a go or practise and locality alone.
Regards

I haven't fished it for about ten years but from what I remember the water was gin clear and it was a great place for buzzer tactics. You're right about it being small but if I remember it is dirt cheap at around £20 for 5 fish.

Its a small pond at the far end of a farm.

Get your eye in and then head for Bewl!

It's a depressing, miserable, wind swept, featureless, hole in the ground, stocked with poor quality stockies. Zero facilities, unless you count all the goose ***** you can carry, there's plenty of that !
I'm amazed the place is still open, there are far better alternatives around if you are prepared to travel 30-45 minutes. As has been mentioned, Bewl is apparently fishing well at the moment, or Lakedown if you don''t mind killing fish.

Hi, unfortunately I don't drive.... so bit of a treck, Lakedown must me a good hours walk from stonegate station.. I actually grew up in Burwash common and was taught to fish at Lakedown. Bewl is a bit of a trek from a station too, mind you I guess there are more cabs down that way now than there were when I was a kid!

Thanks guys, zero facilities was right! water was clear, and had I not stopped at the farm shop to ask where the lake was whilst the bailiff was having his afternoon cuppa the fishing would have been free... NOt sure I shall be going back though, was nice to know I can still cast a fly!

Hi there,

I was in the same boat as you and didn't drive. Hayes was the first place i ventured out to and although it is very basic i learnt the very basics there so have a bit of a soft spot for the place.

Once you get bored there though as a non-driver living in where you do i would try Albury Estates water in Surrey,Haliford Mere nr Shepperton station or Walthamstow nr Tottenham Hale station. These are all places i tried when using public transport.

If it's an option for you i would seriously consider to get driving as it's changed my life in regards to my fishing.

Cheers,

Mark

Another place easy to get to via public transport is Syon Park.
