Default Pitsford 27.3 08

Managed a few hours' fishing through the middle of the day. It was somewhat warmer than of late with mixed cloud and sunshine and a light, variable north-westerly breeze.

Dropped in on a point half way along the north bank and was pleased to land four fish, the best two going 2lbs12oz. The successful flies included a Diawl Bach variation and small (size 12), dark midge pupa imitations. I estimate the fish took about 4-5ft down. All had been feeding on tiny (size 18-20) dark midge pupae. The taking time seemed to be between 12 noon and 2.30 pm.

Any one else fished there lately?

Mugsy

Default we miss again

I was at Pitsford from eight to ten thirty yesterday Mugsy! We started off on the Gorse, and figuring I normally get a take within twenty minutes, moved when this failed to materialise. No one else on the north bank had landed a fish by then so we motored round to the Gravels, where it was the same story, four rods, no fish.I would have liked to have stayed as there were lots of small buzzer coming off, but my mate had struggled last week so we went to Ravo.We fished up in the causeway corner where a few fish were moving to decent buzzers.I had seven and lost a few, interestingly most were in the top foot- it was too weedy to let your team go down. All took #12 diawl bachs, as did a 8lb pike, which fought better than the 30lb fish I had in the starting week (also on a diawlbach!)
Wednesday looks good, decent temperature = more buzzers! Maybe we'll meet then? Have p.m'd you.
