Butterstone Report
Butterstone remains to fish well with those anglers who suffered the cold weather conditions having in their words surprisingly good sport. Intermediate lines are the preferred line of choice with a wide selection of flies from the usual mini lure, Black and Green being a good starting point to white cat Boobies, orange blobs through to size 12 Diawl Bach’s taking fish. Water clarity is a little hit and miss at times due to the constant changing high winds and water temp is a low 5’C.
The fish are still well spread out and are not all congregated around the road shore and Nether Cardney cottage as per previous years. There were pockets of fish found down the North shore and along the shelf just outside the harbour right round to the south shore. There are also large no’s of good sized fish up near lily pad bay just outside of the top bay.
The average size of fish is a cracking 2.3lbs with some lovely mid sized fish mixed in as well.
