I had a look late on last year, went with a couple of mates who were just getting into it so they asked if I would go along with them. All blanked, we were the only people at the place(and conditions were spot on) hardly saw a fish all day and neither of us even had a touch. It was a bit weird fishing on something so small comapared to the big still waters i was used to.
The lack of activity obviously gave me concern so I with that in mind I doubt will go there again .
The bottom 2 pools looked like they were totally free of anylife what so ever not a ripple , a rise or a splash all day. Began to wonder if there was anything actually in them. There was plenty of insect life about aswell????
Just my opinion though. So good luck let me know if it has improved

I visited there when I was passing last June and I totally agree with Giggsy. The ponds were very small - I reckon a decent cast would land on the far bank of some of them. Tons of fly life but very little moving. There were a couple of people fishing but they didn't look like they'd a touch. The place looked great but it just looked like someone had forgotten to put any fish in the place! One pond was completely full of tadpoles - never seen so many.

I fished there many many years ago and if I remember rightly there were about 10 small pools and not many fish in them.......

Don't go! Last time I went the fish were lice ridden. The place looked derelict and I haven't heard any good reports for a long while.
If you want a small fishery in the area try Llandegla which is fishing very well, or Chirk (ditto).

depends how far you want to go but 'valley dam' is great as small venues go. had a pretty decent write up a couple of months ago to in TF. You could also try Heathwaen just outside oswestry

Default totally agree

I used to fish at tree tops as a youngster, it was good fishing back then, i am talking 15+ years ago.... but returned last year after dusting down the tackle....... no good at all, hardly seen a fish all day, I am sure the same fish was the only one rising all day.. I did manage to catch a roach on one off the bottom pools, but if i was after roach I would have gone down the canal,...... some good local spots have been mentioned in this thread..... I might as well throw mickle trafford in the mix, a friend of mine from chester has fished it a few times.... anyone else fished it recently?

Last time I went to TT i got 4 fish over 6lb, which is unusual from there!! remember the place was very very small and rather peaty. i got my fish on garish lures because nothing else really seemed to be working. I won't fish it again despite having a good day. The bottom two lakes were smaller than some stock ponds.!

If you fancy a bit of a larger water, Dearnford near Whitchurch is worth a cast..?
