Ta For the report Tosh.

Butterstone's opening weekend was a great success with all boats on the Saturday barring three weighing in there 6 fish. Stanley anglers had there usual Opening day BBQ, Rainbow AC also had some boats and the rest were taken by privateers. The day started off relatively warm with anglers starting the day on slow intermediate lines down to a DI3, within minuets of the boats having there first cast rods were into fish and bent double as the hooked fish took off to gain freedom. As the day progressed and temperatures climbed so did the fish. Intermediates were swapped for midge tips and neutral density lines even the odd floater was seen to be used. Sunday dawned colder with the look of rain anglers again had fantastic sport and luckily the rain held off all day.

The fish are well spread out this year and are not all congregated around the road shore and Nether Cardney cottage as per previous years. There were pockets of fish found down the North shore and along the shelf just outside the harbour right round to the south shore. They were even found to be up in the top bay which at this time of year is usually unheard off. It must be the sheer no of Cormorants that are chasing them around the loch. Roll on nesting time so they go back to sea.

The average size of fish is a cracking 2.3lbs with some lovely mid sized fish mixed in as Keith Doig was to find when he landed a pristine 7lb 8oz Rainbow he and Tosh had taken a private boat on Saturday and had a cracker of a day keeping six each and returning around 20 more.

A Few anglers that did well over the weekend were: Keith Doig and Tosh 12fish 36lb 15oz including a cracking 7lb 8oz Rainbow, Sheila Mannion and June Crighton also weighed in 12 fish for 28lb 8oz the returned a further 5, P Grubb's boat weighed in 12 fish for 27lb 8oz, T Black 6 fish for 16lb 3oz and the Winn brothers 12 fish for 28lb 8oz Mr Cunningham 12 fish for 28lbs and Mr Gauld's party 24 fish for 55lb 4oz. Stanley AC 165 fish for 380lbs 5oz for 15 boats, Rainbow AC 51 fish for 123lbs for 5 boats, Balgay AC 21 fish for 44lb 2oz for 3 boats and Perth Ex Service 50 fish for 113lbs 15oz for 6 boats.

Prospect this week are good with predominantly overcast with sunny intervals average temperatures on the cool side around 6 ‘C light winds increasing towards the end of the week and rain forecast for Thursday.
