Default Lechlade news?

Any news from Lechlade as yet? Potentially got a day off this week and thinking about popping along-is it in 'winter mode' yet? Plenty of big browns for this year?

Any info greatly appreciated!

Perhaps we can all chip in and nominate someone to check out fisheries as the seasons come round-spread the costs of prospecting trips!! Avington and Dever in the summer and Lechlade in the winter!

Latest i've heard is that it's still tricky. that was a couple of weeks ago though. I'm desperate to get up there soon, it'll be great after the first frost. Here's hoping for some of their superb browns, although i've not heard they have them like last year... will keep you posted as and when.

Trigger,

What methods were being used and what would you do different next time? I would assume it's well stocked or would you say otherwise? I thought I'd better check before parting with my money.

Interesting thought Trigger. We'd better catch one to be sure though. I think a few lakes in the area have been harder even at this stage of the year for the last few seasons. It can get a bit annoying on our hard earned cash. It's not all about catching - but it helps. Good luck for next time.

This is the latest from Tim at Lechlade. Got this by email this morning

Dear All,

Again, apologies for the sporadic Newsletters. It is difficult to sit here and report on the previous few days fishing only to find that conditions change again. However, I am now reasonably confident that autumn fishing has truly arrived. We have had some frosts and some very much needed rain. Although the river has still yet to come up, and therefore the farm is still vulnerable, Bushyleaze came up 4 inches in a 24 hour period last week, which means the water table must be recovering. And I walked down the river this morning and could ”smell” water. I think it is about to come back. We need it.

I have never seen the water, in both lakes, so clear. The fish at Lechlade are close to the margins and great for stalking. We are seeing good catch returns and some good browns are coming out (well done, Mr Mackean Junior!) Dry Daddies are working well on both waters. The shoals at Bushyleaze appear to have broken up. No, it is not because they are about to spawn!!!

The upside of having been so quiet is that the fish being stocked in to Bushy are close to four pounds and there will be a feast of doubles, both rainbows and browns, for Lechlade this winter.

The website has been updated (The On Line Booking is STILL not working). If you want a giggle it is worth checking out The About Us page. The wonders of social media, my first ever salmon appeared on Facebook about a week ago…..have a look.

Normal Newsletters should start flowing again soon but this is just to let you know that the catch returns over the last ten days have been very encouraging.

Best wishes and Tight Lines,

Tim and The Team.

Kennick fly fishers had an away day to lechlade this sunday 4/3/12. The weather was horrendous, freezing driving rain in morning followed by snow. Then thank heavens it cleared up by 1ish and became slightly warmer. Fish were taken steadily all day with 13 of us taking 44 fish, a mixture of 'bows and browns ranging from 5 to 8lb with an average of about 6lb. Lures were the best flies and damsels, with the odd fish taken on buzzer. The fish fish seamed to be in the far end bays for most of the morning then in front of the owners house midday.

Considering the conditions everyone enjoyed the day and was surprised the fish played ball, and all faught like demons.
