Default Ravensthorpe tomorrow...

Well here it is - the start of the Anglian water reservoirs opening day tomorrow.

The boats booked, lines are cleaned and the leaders are made and the winds blowing so hard at my house that the wheely bins moving about on its own. Hopefully itll blow itself out overnight.

Can't be worse than the about -10c, blowing from the middle it was opening day BLANK at Grafham last year...

The wind is still forecast for 15 to 20mph , however the ressie is fairly well sheltered dont think you will have a problem . I have fished it early season for the last 2 years and have a boat booked for the 12th , a bit of advice if you need it , same as anywhere early season , close in to the bank , blobs , damsel or buzzers , take your pick , anywhere from the island up to the bridge . Let us know how you got on please.

Boats were not allowed out till < 26mph winds, which took till noon - all the decent platforms were occupied so simply had to sit around till the boats went out.

The wind was pretty bad till about 3pm over by the island was pretty unpleasant , rocking and rolling and not a touch. Moved over to the west bank was much more pleasant, couldnt get anything on floating or inter lines at all.

Changed over to a DI7 with a zonker on a dropper and a silver humongous on the point got every take as the leader began lifting off the deck at the end of the fast stripping retrieve. Tough day in general, only 5 boats out due to the tardy start - quite a few blanks by boaters and bankers by the looks and talks when the boats came in, ended up with 2 fish.

Water quality/clarity is excellent much better than previous years but dont really know if that makes the fishing easier or harder

Saw the Buzzards, couldnt get a good zoom with the camera, as usual the general bird life was excellent.

Will give it a go in a few weeks time when the weather settles down a bit.

Forgot to mention on gutting the fish they were stuffed full of snails, so theyre definitely feeding on the bottom.
