Default Howood fishery Renfrewshire

Ive always fished lochs , rivers and reservoirs and never fished or been in a commercial type fishery . Anyway one day last week I was passing Howood trout fishery and as I had 10 mins to spare I decided to go and have a look there was plenty of guys fishing on the bank and 3 boats in the water with guys in them . But what really surprised me was how small the place was it was really just a big pond . Are all these fisheries like this ????

Hi there, i have only been flyfishing since last march, and have visited a few fisheries around the west of scotland and yes the ones i have visited are fairly small . i have vsited them from oban in the north to south ayrshire. but my time at these places all the people at them are more than helpful. does size matter?

fishfinger if you think howwood is small you better not go for a days fishing at the likes of allandale tarn, broom or kingennie`s specimen pond.good fishing at broom and allandale tarn though.

First of all I have no problems with the people who fish fisheries , I was just surprised how small the water was and how many fishermen were crammed into such a small fookin " puddle " !!!!!!!!!!!

If you are looking for a decent fishery in the central belt I would reccomend Swanswater near Stirling. Its more than just a round puddle in the ground and the fish are in great condition.
