Dear Colin,
On Saturday 24th September, Whitewool Lake will be closed for a Group Event.
THE YURTY FISHING BREAK.....
There are still places on our Yurty Fishing Breaks on the weeks commencing 3rd October 2011 and 17th October 2011.
The fee for the four nights, is just £85 per yurt. So for four people, that's less than £6 per night per person.
If you wish to book this, you can do this online using the link below:
https://secure.supercontrol.co.uk/av...1&siteID=10441
And in the notes section - just write FISHING DEAL £85.
If you would like more info, please call Keith or Roger 01730 823134.

On the Lakes.
Water clarity is perfect on Whitewool Lake. The fish are moving to the fly, readily. Coombe lake is slightly coloured, with bright colours doing best.
This Weeks Fishing Tip
Buying Tackle
There is a lot of talk about buying tackle and much of it is elaborated conversation. However, there are a few guiding principles, which should be considered when making your purchases.
One of the nice things about fly fishing is it doesn't require much gear, however - on a health and safety note it is worth ensuring you wear some kind of cap and eye protection.
When starting you want an outfit that is versatile, easy to use and will not break the bank.
ROD - An 8½ ft AFTM rated 5/6 weight rod is a good all-round starter.
LINE - Weight forward lines are rather easier to cast since the line is tapered so that the bulk of the weight is at the front of the line giving greater power and distance. This is better for novices.
Floating fly lines sit on the surface creating much less drag when lifted off the water on the back cast, thus making them easier to cast than sinking fly lines.
Modern fly lines are coated in slick polymers which slide easily through the rod guides. There are many fly lines on the market. The best ones have very low memory so they can spend many weeks coiled up on your reel but when cast the line is nice and straight. Buying cheap lines or reel ends is a false economy - a good fly line makes a big difference to your casting.
REEL - You do not need to pay a fortune for a good reel. The spool holding the line needs to sit snugly in the reel cage. If not, the fly line will get jammed causing tangles and frustration.
LEADER - Very important. Many people use tapered leaders, however they are now quite expensive and you can use straight nylon or fluoro-carbon.
FLIES - Be strategic in your purchasing of flies. Take note of what is being recommended on the water that you are fishing (we recommend fly patterns most weeks on this email and more regularly on our twitter feed @meonspringsfish.
So How Much Is This Going To Cost Me?
At Meon Springs we can offer a starter outfit for £65. If you look after it, this will last your fishing career - but be warned once you start buying tackle, you'll only want more......
At Meon Springs we have a range of rods & equipment that you can try before you buy. Have a word with myself or Roger, when you are next down or call us on 01730 823134.
