Default Manor Farm

Went to Manor Farm today for the first time. Didnt have a touch for the first two hours until I found where the fish were which unfortunately meant casting directly into quite a strong wind! Although it was quite hard work at times fortunately the fish were not that far out (about 10-15 yards). I ended up catching 6 and lost 2 which I was quite pleased with considering the conditions. All 6 fish were around the 2 pound mark and were taken on a floating line with a green and white gold head on a ten foot leader. There was plenty of movement on top with fish crashing around and some of the takes were only a couple of feet under. Look forward to fishing here on a slightly calmer day.

FS, I have fished it three times since Xmas and had good results.

The trick is that the fish are 3-6ft from the bank and you need to be on the windward side as you say. I found that when there were new stockies you could get them on a white lure on a floater or intermediate pulled parallel to the bank.

Last time it was a bit harder and I fished a bung rig at 2ft and 4ft and caught on bloodworm really, really close in. Also lost a fish over 6lbs at the net that took a buzzer with the indicator almost touching the rushes !

Charlie, I did think about fishing the bung with buzzers as I remember someone saying that it was quite effective, will give it a go next time. What a ****** losing that fish at the net! There are obviously some big lumps in there!

Let's see if we can get a few of us there. I'll arrive about 10 - you only get 5 hours, so no point being there early.

I'm the guy loaded down with bags

Last week I took a guy who had never caught a fish on the fly before, he had two and lost two

I know I've got a vested interest here but if any of you are just occasional visitors, there's a feature on Manor Farm in our latest issue (No 374) that goes into some detail on tactics.

You should be able to skim through it before the shop assistants get suspicious...
