Default Stillwaters Near Cheltenham

Hi, anyone know of any small stillwaters in the Cheltenham area where I could take a couple of novice mates for a few hours fishing. Just looking for a bit of fun, good chance of catching something and not too expensive??

Regards

Not much local really. The best one for easy is Donnington Trout Farm/fishery. However it's probably covered in weed this time of year, ok until end of april. Ring and ask them.

The next choice would be Witcombe waters. 5 miles out on the Stroud rd. Can be good in September, fry feeding trout, try muddlers. Not cheap but sometimes they reduce the price because of poor sport in August, again ring and ask. Next on the list is Lechlade and Bushyleaze. Not cheap though.

That's about it I'm afraid . Could fish the river Clone at Fairford-Bull Hotel has tickets. Best plan is to head for the Wye and Usk foundation waters. Lots to choose from and about an hour and a quarter drive down the M50.

Oh forgot...Salford Trout lakes nr Chipping Norton, could be ok. All mentioned can be googled.

Chris.
