Meon Springs
Dear Colin,
On the Lakes.
Whitewool Lake is gin clear at the moment, with fish laying deeper than they were last week (due to brighter weather and a bit warmer).
The fish are moving quite actively, mainly coming to smaller nymphs fished slow and deep.
This Weeks Fishing Tip
Where to fish on warm Summer Days
At this time of year, when the weather is warm and bright it is often difficult to get trout to turn on to your fly, particularly in the middle of the day.
However, if you can find deep shade, such as under trees etc. the fish can be teased by beetle patterns and terrestial flies e.g. blue bottles and flies such as the black and peacock spider or a large black ant.
Troutmasters
Mark Witherington caught a 6Lbs 15oz rainbow on Whitewool lake to a bloodworm. Well done Mark - a good piece of fishing. However, with the exact same weight, Liz Wilson caught a 6Lbs 15oz Rainbow on Coombe lake, to a Rubber Legged Daddy - under the trees in the shade.....
Congratulations to both of you. Please give me a call to claim a free ONE fish ticket for use in September.
