Used to fish Crosswood many years ago when it was mainly wild fish, but 'topped up' with smallish rainbows when run by East of Scotland Water. Lovely spot. Even longer ago we used to fish the Linhouse burn which drains it, great fun fishing upstream worm in a spate.

Not sure if I fancy Crosswood as much now, what with the size of the fish stocked and all that - more 'commercial'. But I have fond memories of traipsing about the hills up there as a lad looking for birds eggs, fishing the burn and all that malarkey.

Must be 25 years since I fished at Crosswood, its a small moorland compensation reservoir lying on the same rough peaty ground as Harperigg and Cobbinshaw.Quite bleak and exposed in bad weather but a nice place to be in favourable conditions.

I caught my very first brookie (8ozs) from there on a woodcock and yellow...
It was run by the Edinburgh council in those days,if you bought a permit you would have the whole place to yourself.

Fitty has been lost as a venue so Crosswood is a welcome addition to the stillwater scene in central Scotland.

I hope it does well.
