Fly’s to try Dries: - Beetles, CDC Shuttle Cocks Size 12 to 18, Shipman’s size 12 and 14, Klinkhamers, Sedge, and at times size 18 to 20 black midges. Nymphs: - Damsels, GRHE, PTN, Buzzers and Diawl Bachs. Lures: - Booby, Blobs, and Dawson’s Nomad.

It’s been a tough week for anglers we have had hundreds of fish in the shallow water feeding mainly on very small fry and refusing nearly everything that has been put in front of them. Boat anglers have had some short spells of very good sport when fish have been feeding freely over the deep water down the middle of the lake and taking dry’s such as Klinkhammers and Hoppers. September is usually a very good month with larger fly’s hatching and the fish get easier to catch.
Sunday Junior Ryan Vasey caught eleven rainbows to 4lb on Klinkhamers from the boat jetty. Colin Green caught four from the same spot earlier in the day. Monday Les Spedding had seven rainbows to 3lb and lost as many fish from the point most of the fish Les caught on CDC Shuttlecocks size 18 and smaller. Young Ryan Vasey caught six rainbows to 3lb 8oz from the jetty on Klinkhamers. Tuesday Fourteen anglers only managed eight fish the problem was that the fish were feeding on tiny midge. Wednesday Andrew Bogan caught thirteen Rainbows and one nice Roach on Hears ear nymphs fishing out from the point in a boat. Mike Gadd had eight fishing from a boat at the top of the moorside. Thursday Ian Morrison caught eight from the top of the moorside on small dry’s. Junior Scott Almanderea caught six rainbows to 3lb on Hoppers and klinkhamers from the top of the moorside. Friday Garry Coverdale caught eight rainbows from the overflow end of the dam on CDC Shuttlecocks. Bernard Fitzhugh had four on Klinkhamers. Mrs Murray caught nine from a boat on Black CDC Emerges olive lost five fish off as well. Saturday we had quite a strong Southerly wind today bank anglers had the best of the sport with as many fish lost as were landed. Dave Urwin caught six rainbows from the overflow end of the dam on small damsels. Andrew Greet also had six on damsels from the point and Graham Hill landed five from the jetty.
