Unfortunate, but not unexpected.....

I feel for the staff, but surely they must have seen this coming?

Sadly I think this could be the first of a few to close.

Ive not fished at Fitty for several years but I went there a lot during my early years coming into the sport and have many fond memories of the place.

A bad blow for wee Richard and all the staff concerned.

I am sorry to learn that we have lost this fishery. Was there any particular reason for it going under and losing money?

This is the coalboard at its usual dirty tricks, I expect. They sold the fishing rights on the Waterside stretch of the river Doon, from under the noses of the Waterside fishing club, did not even give them a chance to buy it, after many many years of renting from them.

Look out for new owners at Loch Fitty in the near future, or a dirty great open cast site to encompass this area.

Bloody coalboard at its best.

Sam

I fish with a Dunfermline based club and I`ve heard it is going to be drained.

Read into that what you like

It,s a real shame what has happened at the fitty i remember going up the fitty as a youg lad on my bike and have some great days on the loch , As i got older the evening rises were magic with clouds of sedges every june ,july, and aug , I always felt that they got the stocking wrong with to many small or poor quality fish going in and thats when it got the nickname the :shitty fitty: but over all i will be sad to see it closed as i think it was a good place for young lads or lassies to go and catch a few trout . For what its worth i feel it will be drained and the coal board will take what they can and then just leave it to turn into waist land dam shame
