Default stillwaters near Bournemouth?

Hi all
Can anyone recommend any 'good value' stillwater venues around the Bournemouth area, where I can still get my fix for the rest of the winter?

Welcome to the forum.

There are a couple in Dorset and a few in Hampshire. How far are you willing to travel?

hi Loopy - and thanks
Im quite happy to travel within about a 30 mile radius.
It strikes me that toward the east, we have a lot of 'exclusive' waters trading on the past. The double edged sword of the chalk streams strikes.
I am envious of the people living near the easy access big waters like Draycote etc.
I'm aiming to join CAC next month, but thats a whole 2 weeks away.
Can anyone give up any info on what CAC has to offer by way of game fishing?

It is a touch over 30 miles according to AA route planner but have a go at Avon Springs near Amesbury. The water should be very clear.
Give Barry a call first and have a good day out.

You may get some Grayling fishing in on the Avon and or some Rainbows.

Enjoy

I believe CAC have a couple of small lakes just outside Wimborne, used to be called Whitesheet Trout Fishery.

There is always Rockbourne Trout Fishery just to the North of Fordingbridge website: http://www.rockbournetroutfishery.co.uk/

Or; why not try a days Grayling fishing at the Lower Itchen fishing at Southampton. http://www.itchen-fishing.net/GraylingFishing.asp

Leomstead in the New Forest - seems to be open year round.

Leominstead closed as a public access trout fishery a few years ago...it was somewhat casually run when it was public, in my experience. It's now a Salisbury & District Club water, see below below.

Angry

Thanks for the help guys.
i've never fished grayling before, but its one of the things I want to do.
I dont think that the weather is compatible with starting the grayling learning curve, so I may well try out Rockbourne.
Avon Springs does look fantastic though.
Have to dig out the hand warmers -don't know about you but my left hand goes blue after about 30 mins of standing

I went on the hunt for this last month - ended up having a chat with the farmer next door who kindly brought me up to date with the access situation and Salisbury who have taken control.
Most of the 'fisheries' websites seem to be hopelessly out of date with a lot of them requesting information instead of providing it!
I reckon there's a few small farm/fisheries out there not on the internet. Id like to find ne that I can head off to if I finish work early or have a long lunch break if you know what I mean.
For some reason my wife is beginning to get a little irritated when she sees anything fly-fishing orientated, so I think its only a matter of time before some discreet visits to the water are called for

I wouldn't bet your house on it...most trout small stillwaters are commercial ventures in a game where it's tough to make a living, and just about the last thing they want to do is not advertise their existence.

If you fancy slightly more out of the way places then I'd look at the Salisbury Club - they seem to have a couple of lakes as well as river beats. Waiting list for their game section, though.
