West House Trout Lakes | Welcome to West House Trout Lake

FISHING REPORT 18/07/11

This rain has really refreshed the lakes. No weed problems at all this summer. Plenty of activity on the surface with most fish being caught on Dries or Buzzer patterns usually olive or black variations
Peter Dawson landed a nice Rainbow of 12lb from the Mill lake caught using an Olive suspended buzzer, on 3lb leader the fish took 20 minutes to subdue. Sarah James of Northallerton landed 9 fish in her session the best a Blue Trout of 6lb most fish being caught on Buzzers. Stephen Goodridge of Staindrop caught 17 fish including two Browns to 5lb .
The fishery is now open from 8am – 8 pm 7 days a week

The best flies this week were Cats Whiskers, CDC shipmans, Diawl Bach, Dawsons Olives, Gold head Damsels, CDC Hoppers, Hares Ears and mini lures.

Terrible day there today, no fault of the location, just one of those days.
plenty of fish on the top, lots of interest but only a roach to a shipmans to show. After 3 weeks of travel I was desperate to get out but my enthusiasm just shut down my brain. Connected with quite a few fish but a combination of poor knots over excitement and weeds led to a troutless day.

I will take a deep breath and try again tomorrow

I havnt been out for months and had a visit to a wild fishery in Teesdale . What a mess i made of castingand tying leaders on. Loads of fish feeding on natural bibios. The fish were suicidal so i didnt blank.Need more practice before the season endsPB
