Default LlynGwyn

I hadn't fished up there for two weeks because of waiting for my new rod, reel and lines to arrive.
I started out on a cats whisker but didn't do any good, I sat it out with a Boobie for an hour, mainly because the wind was right in my face and was making casting hard. I gave in and changed to a floating line tying on a coch-y-bonddu. Straight away I got a rise but missed it. This went on for another for or five takes but then I hooked a good fish. The Rainbow stayed on for a good twenty seconds but this fish was someting else, bigger than anything I'd hooked up there, it leapt from the water and threw the hook. I estimated it around the 7-8lb mark. I was gutted!
I couldn't see the fly because of the waves blowing in so had to watch the line for takes. I tightened up to the fly keeping the line ready to strike but still managed to miss four more fish.
Time was pushing on and I knew I had to pick the kids up at 3.30pm so gave myself until 2.30 before I'd pack up. At five to two I finally connected with a fish of 2lb 4oz and brought it to the net. I was just about to lift it out and it jumped out of the net. My heart pounded as I fought it again, I had visions of this one coming off too, I soon got it back into the net though. I cleaned and cooked it as soon as I got home for my wifes tea. My youngest said that he wanted to try some. Thought he'd spit it out but NO he loved it and said he wants to come on the next trip. My peace will be shattered!

Today was probably the best day I've had at Llyngwyn not the most fish I've taken but certainly the best fun. It's fishing really well and I can't wait to go again.

Two pairs of Red kites circled me all day, I tried to photograph them but they'll probably come out the size of ants, so I don't think I'll bother posting the pics.

Nice one Maxximus. Thanks for the report. Sounds like you had good day and changed tactics to find the fish, which gave you good sport. Thats what it's all about.

Thanks for taking the time to reply Osprey, There were only 3 of us up there all day. I had to laugh because the old boy on the boat had forgotten to charge the battery on his electric motor. Haha, he won't forget again...he spent a good fifteen minutes drifting before reaching shore to pick up the oars.lol

Also as I was leaving, the poor bloke from over the other side met me at the car park.
"Any luck around there I said", No and I'm getting fed up with this wind, "it's getting on my nerves; Mine too, I saidand I told him I'd managed to find the fish but couldn't always cast to the right spot because of the gails. I wish I could say the same He said, but I haven't found any fish and to top it all I was just casting and the end of the rod broke.

Apparently the rod was a replacement for one that it had happened too before, the company had sent him a more expensive rod in place of the one that broke before and that one had done the same thing.

Could it be his casting or perhaps a bad batch of rods?

I don't know whether to name and shame the company, because I liked some of their stuff, I won't buy their rods in a hurry though after seeing that!
