Thumbs up Wicked Walthamstow

Had a great afternoon there yesterday, and had a dozen in 4 hours.

All the fish were cracking quality and came to a black & green booby on a Di5, except for one on a red apps bloodworm..

Best thing I bought all year was the season ticket, the amount of fishing I have got in and the stuff I learnt has been worth every penny and a bargin at £280, can believe I was hesitant about by buying it!

Yeah, that is more than I have caught in total there ! Normally a fish or two is quite an achievement.

Must admit I have been suprised by how consistent it has been this year. The start of the season was the leanest bit.

The dry fly fishing was brilliant, and first time I went for a session and only fished dries and this went on for around 8 weeks in the summer.

Also the afternoons have seemed to be more productive than the evenings.

@ Andy. The fur and feather competition is on the 1st December and I think that may be the next time I get there (although I may try and snag an afternoon again next week). Maybe see you there if you fancy it?

@ Charlie. Fished in #4 next to the bay before the causeway, along the west bank just before the hut. Never caught from this spot before as the wind is normally akward along here, but with a mild westerly it was perfect.

Well done mate.

Most I've ever had was four and that was more than everyone else on the place caught together

It's obviously improved a bit this year They normally stop stocking about now - is that the case this year ?

Thanks for the spot, I agree that is not a normal hotspot.

Thumbs up

I know they held a couple of 1000 back from the summer because the conditions weren't favourable and these fish went in during Sept/Oct, along with 500 small 1lb brownies which are still shoaling near the edges in #5.

I've wrote most of my trips up in my blog if your interested.

The other major factor may be that they tolerate catch & release now.

East Warwick the syndicate water also seems to be fishing well with quite a few 5lber's being caught. I know it fished really well when an article was made for one of the fly fishing mags to be published in March.

Hoping I might be able get there this afternoon .

If they are allowing C&R I might give it a go. I have generally put fish back there, but it was not technically the "policy" - there were just so few fish it seemed a shame to take one
