Default North West Fishing

I've recently moved from London to the North West, Warrington to be exact, and I'm looking for advice on fisheries in the area. I've been fishing at Syon Park for the last year, so I still class myself as a novice, but I'm looking to start fishing larger waters. I've tried Curleys & Twin lakes at Croston but if anyone can point me to other places, I'd be grateful.

For me Curleys is one of the best, not exactly easy but very rewarding when you get it right. Twin Laked, well I personally hate the place.

For some others try here:

http://www.go-fish.co.uk/lancashire.htm

Theres also Pendle View at Clitheroe, not my cup of tea but quite good if your just starting out (fish a blob under an indicator if you want to catch plenty). There's two on the A6 just outside Lancaster, one is on the golf course next to the Uni the other is just down the road (heading south), its called Mere Clough or something like that!

Theres Mere Beck, thats about 10 mins from Twin Lakes. The also a new one nr Chorley call Oak Royal, but take a hard hat and be prepared for someone 'playing through' your swim

Im sure some more will be posted.

If you live in Warrington, then there are a couple of nice fisheries around Cheshire,

Westlow Mere at Congleton is a nice friendly water, and run by Congleton Fly Fishers http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/...stlow/mere.htm

Marton Heath, is a nice place in the summer, though I haven't been for a while. http://www.go-fish.co.uk/venue_1619.htm
Purely by coincidence http://www.flyforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=16947

Out towards Chester and a few minutes off the M56 at Mickle Trafford you have Meadow Fishery, which also has a decent tackle shop. http://www.meadow-flyfishing.co.uk/

One I have heard a lot about but never fished is Chirk Fishery, http://www.chirkfishery.co.uk/

Slightly further afield, is Walkerwood http://www.walkerwood.free-online.co.uk/

Guess the above will keep you busy for a while

Just thought I'd add the link for Mere Beck, one of my favourite places alongside Stocks http://www.merebeck.co.uk/

.

The guys posting previously have got most of the fisheries covered. A couple of others worth mentioning that are within driving distance.

Llyn Brenig (North Wales)
Barnsfold (Just outside Preston)
Pennine (Littleborough, North Manchester)

There are a few brown trout fisheries in North Wales.

Plus day tickets are available on both the River Dee & River Wharfe.

Clubs in the area include Wirral Game Angling, and the Prince Albert Angling Association among others.

Regards,
Terry

I can second Chirk Fishery having fished there from day one really. I used to help out and fish as much as I wanted until 6 years ago, when my migratory wings flew me to Norway.

Really friendly staff, lovely lakes set in a beautiful welsh valley and lovely onsite reared trout.

You won't be dis-appointed.
