Thumbs up

Hi BtB

Welcome to you too.

I haven't fished Bowden Springs, preferring larger waters. However of the few small waters I've fished (I'm in Edinburgh) ..... I'd vote for one in Aberdeenshire !!

Artloch (on the Huntly to Dufftown road) is a lovely wee place ... friendly owner, well landscaped and the fish are challenging and hard-fighting. And the prices for C&R are excellent value.

A close second (in my opinion) is Ballencrieff near Bathagte. Again, friendly staff, good fish, good views and well-tended etc. £10 for 4 hours.

Hope this helps

Best regards

Welcome to the forum.

I like Dever Springs & Avon Springs as small stillwater venues.

Cheers Weeflyman...Aye fished ballencrieff a few times and is exellent for top of the water sport, cracking fish as well....Defo give bowden a try if your in the area...The management are really friendly and its 14 quid for 6 hours unlimited catch and release......The fish fight well over there size due to feeding heavily on shrimps....They are tuned onto the minnows just now which makes for some spectacular takes......all the best.......Borntoblank............

i'm not familar with many fisheries east of the central belt. but bank venues that do C&R Burnhouse is pretty good, but very crowded at weekends as is swanswater.

Hi BtoB

Other small waters in the Edinburgh area are -

Markle .... near East Linton (East Lothian)
RosslynLea .... near Penicuik (Midlothian)
Bangour ...... near Livingston (West Lothian)
Beecraigs ... near Linlithgow (West Lothian)

I haven't fished any of them, but a friend recommends Markle - he seems to get good sport on buzzers there.

Bangour only allows fishing from wooden jetties (apart from staning on the dam wall).

A water I do fish is Glencorse Reservoir (between Penicuik and Edinburgh) - the chap there does a C&R ticket, but its boat only (no more than £12 for 4 hours in the boat ). Its a bigger water, but lovely scenery ... and normally carries a good stock of fish.

Beyond it (up the same valley) is Loganlea which offers both bank and boat.

Hope that helps

Kind regards

WeeFlyMan

my favourite fishery is lawfield near kilmacolm because when you catch a fish you will get a very good scrap.i went to have a look at Bowdensprings(after bagging up at Beecraigs)and i seriously was not impressed and ithink it is just too small
