Hi Charlie1234

Have a mate who went on Saturday to Earith and blanked it. He is more of an accomplished carp angler than a fluff chucker but he emjoys fly fishing when he can. This is what he had to say about your venue:-

"It is a barren looking gravel pit, with some deep parts, and saw only three rises all day, tried all sorts and neither of us got a take, about 5 on the lake and saw just 1 fish banked. It wasn’t exactly the best weather for the fishing as was pretty bright, but still a long way to go for a blank."

I asked him if he fished a varitey of sinkers and he replied:-

"Yes, tried all sorts of flies and I used floating and intermediate lines and my Dad also tried Sinking. There may have been a combo that would have resulted in a take, but the lack of fish showing was quite disheartening."

Its not much help to you but the forecast is for rain on Wednesday and that could help!

UGH - there are twenty of us going next Sunday.

So I just phoned and the guy said it was fishing "fantastically" ! Wonder how much of that is "fishery manager's optimism" ?

Thanks

Charlie

If you have booked it they will make sure there are fish.

After all Bob Church caught his best ever when he went!

What a lousy venue - the worst kind of hole in the ground with a few, and I mean a few fish in it !

I had two very small stockies of 1-3 each and that was a lot more than most.

I won't be rushing back

Charlie

Sorry to hear that. I would have thought that they would have pushed the boat out for you and your party.

I won't be visiting this place for the forseeable future either as that is now two reports of little activity.
