Hi Lads, I was wondering if any of you have been on the lake in the last week or so, and could give some info. on flies etc. as a mate of mine is fishing there on Thursday.

Between dog island -malling shore, orange blob
or go into the cages (now onshore) and see if you can get 1 of the monsters that lived underneath. quint reckons there might be 20lb'ers.he's seen them.and iv'e seen a bar of silver about 17lb.
PS the cages are still out and will not be removed till 22oct, sorry.

We fished Menteith as a group of 14 a week past Thursday, most of the lads took Blues (almost all blues) from Hotel Bay to Portend via Reedy Bay. A good drift weather permitting.
As said above Orange blob on an intermediate and DI3 line worked well, so did the sink tip.
Don’t forget to take a sunburst blob with you and always a good bet a team of 3 DB’s.

I opted for Kates Brae and Lochend bay and found it hard going with multiple lost fish.

Nevermind the weather was fantastic and the fish even better. Roll on our next trip.

The cages aren't supposed to be coming out until Monday 22nd October Jim - I'd be surprised if Quint has changed his mind about the date as there are a few Welsh and Irish boys that were at the international supposed to be coming to try and get one of the monsters.

I thought since you were so kind as to give information on the 'Lake, I should let you know how the mates got on last Thursday.
They caught three fish between them, the heaviest being 3lb 9oz., at least that is the figures I was given. Only two of them made the trip, so they did all right for broon troot fishers. The flies that worked were a Soldier Palmer, and a Silver Invicta. They lost a few as well, or so I was informed. I did not know how they got on until yesterday, as I had a wee bet with them on the catch and they lost! The sods would not pay up, as conditions were against them, you know the usual excuses, welchers!
