Fished Wal Goch for the first time 2 weeks ago for and landed 5 fish in a 3 hr period from starting at 4pm , the fly that did the work was a corixia on a floating line drifting in the waves caused by the very strong wind!! , had a great time and will definately return .

Hi Will, I usuall fish it 2-3 times a season, the top lake is a beautiful spot and frequently have the place to myself. After you get your ticket from the post office turn right at the T junction then immediately left going round the church. Follow the road all the way to the bottom and you will see a track on your right. The post office will give you a key for the gates on the track. I usually only fish the top lake as they are often free rising.

Well worth visiting, you wont be disappointed.

Also if you are in the Wrexham area would also recommend Pen y Cae resevoirs.

Excellent, thanks for the recomendations. I have fished Pen-Y-Cae a number of times in the past and have always enjoyed it, again have had the place to myself most times. Do you still need to call 24hrs ahead to book to fish there? Any idea what they charge there these days and how it's fishing?
Thanks
Matt

You still have to book in advance with Tony Jackson the bailiff because they restrict it to something like 6 anglers per day, but like you say you can quite often have it to yourself. I fished it early on last year and think I paid about £18 for the day.
