Thumbs up The Fishing has improved a lot at the New Watch Water

Despite the recent bright sunshine and breezy conditions the fishing has improved a lot. Anglers are remarking about the condition of the fish and about the fight they are getting off them. Mostly smaller patterns have done well diawl bachs, buzzers, ptn and various black flies. The evening sessions have now started and we have made the times for boat hire much more flexible. www.watchfishery.co.uk

Agreed, we have been pleasantly surprised by The Watch - the fish have been very sturdy and vigorous, but most important of all, they tasted good too.. New boats, saw a few out the other day.

Nowhere quite like The Watch for scenery, casting to the accompaniment of chuckling grouse in the heather (one came down to drink at the water's edge nearby) nesting lapwings and curlew, plenty of insects...

I fished the Watch for the first time this year on Saturday. After seeing the forecast, I was expecting to be soaked for the day but the sun was out from 10 until 3:30 which didn't help the fishing much.

I got 3 early on when there was a good rise, but things went quiet after the sun came out and the wind got up. There wasn't much else caught until there was a bit of cloud cover after lunchtime when the fish switched back on.

I managed another 7 up to 5lb including a couple of fit blues that had me down to the backing Top pattern was a rob roy lure but I did manage to get a couple of them on a black klink.

Just a note that if anyone is planning to fish in the SANA International Bank qualifier, they'd better get their names down soon. There's only a handful of entrants so far and if they don't get a minimum of 12 soon, they're going to cancel it.
