Default Chew?

Dear All,

can anyone provide me with an update on how Chew is fishing at the moment please? I haven't fished it for a few years now but am due to fish it over the next couple of days, so would appreciate any help from people who have fished it recently; flies, depth, areas etc?

Also, is the pike fishing any good at the moment? as I'm tempted to take the pike rod too. What flies are best for the Chew pike? colours, size, depth to be fished? areas where they tend to congregate?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Best wishes.

TT.

Default Update...

Thanks to one kind gent who sent me a PM, much appreciated

Fished Chew last Wednesday, and had a great day, even though I was very 'out of practice'!

Wasn't a ripple on the water when we arrived, but it was overcast and the fish were rising, 2 out of 3 aint bad

Following some extremely helpful advice from the gent in the lodge - I take my hat off to him, I was very impressed with the customer service - we decided to fish very close the pontoons. To be honest we didn't stray very far from the area all day, with good cause.

I fished a floating line with a booby on the top dropper, a silver thorax PTN on the middle and a claret hopper on the point. I found that if you could drop the cast in front of a rising/cruising fishing, 9/10 they would take. I was very surprised though at the amount of fish that came for the booby, random.

Got my 8 before 3pm including a nice 3lbs brown, which I was well chuffed about. The rise in the morning turned out to be better than the one in the evening, unfortunately.

Nice to be back on the water.

Tight-lines all.

TT.

Sorry you didn't get much response on your enquiry into fishing at Chew. But glad you had a good time. The customer service there is second to none at the lodge and the fishing can be fantastic.
Should you decide to go again refer to this site beforehand:-
