I fished this venue last Sunday as a party of four (30/09/07) and all in all had a really good day. I opted for the £35 4-fish ticket seeing as I arrived late morning (11am). The water is in the order of 6-8 acres in size and is reasonably clear. As I arrived the lake was being stocked with an assortment of browns and rainbows (I noticed many of them were double figure browns!!) - the stocking guy informing me that 50 fish had gone in. I fished relentlessly until 3pm without any interest whatsoever (and was starting to get a little disheartened!). By this time my friend had managed to catch a couple of small rainbows by stripping a floating fry across the surface. Nearly every retrieval was met with a fierce bow-wave, making the fishing very exciting. Around 4pm we all decided to fish the far end of the lake, fishing into the wind. Stripping muddlers across the surface once again resulted in some interesting cat and mouse like chases! I could see that the majority of the 'chasing fish' were around the 2lb mark so decided to go sub-surface. I switched to a white-bead nymph, rapidly retrieving it sub-surface and within 20 minutes I had caught the fish shown below:

Rainbow 7lb 8oz
Brown 4lb 9oz

Brown (same fish!)
The brown was in top condition. I managed to bag one more rainbow but slightly smaller. The wind seemed to drop almost instantaneously and with it so too did the interest from the fish! I went away with the three fish, the rainbow looking like the best of the week (size-wise) from the catch returns. The fishing was by no means easy, a real struggle at times, but there is definitely plenty of fish in there! Well worth a visit.
