Well it was certainly a case of ‘you should have been here last week’

Arrived to perfect conditions on Saturday and had the bibios all rigged up and ready to go. Set of up to cages bay with the wind picking up but still not too bad. Got one after about 20 minutes on a yellow dancer – cracking rainbow about 3lbs which had me down to the backing.

Things went quiet after that – no sign of any heather flies so we decided to give the road shore a go as there seemed to be a lot of boats there. I got a nice blue on the yellow dancer just after we started our first drift but the wind was really picking up now so we headed for some shelter in Lochend – where I managed to wrap my line round the prop

It was now too windy to fish the road shore

so we went back to cages bay and managed to pick up a few on the dancer and a sparkler drifting into the reeds on the east side. I ended up with 5 (4 blues and 1 rainbow) for over 15lb and my partner had a couple of blues. Really a bit of a slog on the day but when you know the quality of the fish that are in there, it keeps you going. Saw the osprey briefly but even it seemed to be struggling in the wind!!
