gadusmorhua is on a distinguished road
Default Ravensthorpe 8th Aug

Arrived 7.30, on the water for 8 o/c.Decent ,if rather cool, northerley breeze.Motored up the Coton end with usual red bob's bits on the top, hares ear spider (s 14) in the middle, and a small orange hopper on the point.I had three fish on the hoppper, and some refusals to the b.b, but the small spider, fished sub surface started getting all the takes so I changed to a greased up h.e on the top, with two more fishing wet below.Although it was cloudless the fish were still cruising 6-12 inches down and I caught steadily throught the day.By 2 o/c a few clouds formed and when one of these past in front of the sun the surface erupted, with takes every cast.
I left at 3.45, having been cooked by the sun and in need of a beer.
Chris told me Pitsford is fishing well for the boats, with dries doing the business in the main basin.Any reports out there? I havn't been for over a month and really fancy a change.

My last trip out was to Ravo, GDM. A couple of mates went to Pitsford on Monday and said the boats were queuing up to run through the boils and the fish were crawling up the lines. However, after running through the boils a few times they moved up to the Sailing Club corner of the Dam and drifted out into the main basin.

One lad, who only ever fishes a single fly got 8 for the day and the other pulled a good deal more by all accounts. All the fish were a little bit on the lean side though suggesting that the better fish have indeed been off the feed for a while. It sounds like they're making up for lost time now. Trad wets, hoppers, suspenders and buzzers were all successful patterns.

Hopefully I'll get out next week for a throw.
