Smile Farmoor Status

Saturday August 4th

This week has seen the fishing slowing a little, the rod average for the week has been over 2 but with the bright sun it's not surprising. One of our regulars has been keeping his own log and he averages over 4.2 per visit from his last 17 visits this season. Mr Smith and Mr Hall fished together yesterday and had their limits for a total weight of 39lb 4ozs taken on Viva's
The best fish this week was a RB at 3lb 8ozs and the best Brown at 4lb 4ozs
Both boat and bank are fishing equally well; the first 5 of our new boats are proving popular so if you wish to fish from the boats please book to avoid disappointment
As I mentioned before we are having a BBQ on Aug 17th. It kicks off at about 21.00 at the sailing club. All are welcome the cost is £5.00 per head for food and there will be a bar available. Please book, as we don't want to waste food.

Fished Farmoor Sunday, which fished suprisingly well considering it was close to 30 degrees c and not a cloud in the sky. Took six , most of which were caught near the boat jetty between 4 and 6pm. Almost all took the pearly cruncher on the top dropper fished really close in. Alot of pin fry about, so i guess that's why this fly is doing the business.

If the week referred to included Saturday 28 July then I caught it, from the causeway

Goodness me what a fish. At one time it had taken a complete WF8 Shakey sky blue intermediate line and about 20 yards of backing out. And I was using a 10 foot #8/9 Steve Parton rod so was certainly not aiming to take any prisoners. I honestly thought it would weigh double what it turned out to - but I wasn't disappointed. It looked like a little salmon, with a tail on it bigger than my hand. More please !
