Default DRAYCOTE 2/8/07 weather / methods

Fished draycote from the boat yesterday - conditions less than ideal - no wind, very bright and humid. Good number of boats out yesterday so competition for the good spots was to say the least interesting!!!! All the fish that were in taking mood appreared to be purely over the boils as the areator pipes were on. The fish however were in the main stockies - as they only stocked on tuesday having released 1200. The residents were nowhere to be seen. There fish were anywhere from 1-6ft down and a variety of methods seemed to work from floaters to di-3 / di-5 when spooned many had been feeding on buzzers or caenis. I caught around 19 with the best just under 4lb and most around the 2lb mark and came to me on a minkie fished VERY slowly. FYI the lake now has a major major algea porblem and looks horrbile but this has not it seems put the fish off. Will give draycote now a miss till the back end when hopefully the algea will go and have a better chance of the residents as i dont enjoy stockie bashing. Lastly a 15lb rainbow was caught on wednesday to a booby by all counts and had only been in the water for around 12 hours...........

Default Draycote

Fished Saturday from the boat with my good friend Roy Stroud (Royvs in here)
Conditions were changeable - very windy indeed am and overcast - brightened up late afternoon and wind eased. We had 24 fish to the boat and lost half as many again. Majoriy in the aerators and well downwind of them - up to 200 yds down. Fish in top 6ft - caught mainly on black lures and olive lures fished fast on an intermediate. We also caught from rainbow corner and most other places we fished. Far too many boats driving hard through the aerator, no surprise that fish moved down/away by the end of the day.
Tried buzzers and dries to no avail, nothing rising.
Some snot algae in the water but not a serious problem.
Great place, great day, well done Keith on a tremendous fishery.

Just to add to what Nigel said, I would say most of the fish we took were residents and fought like Billio.

Nigel is a brilliant angler and he fishes hard..in my efforts to emulate him I could hardly move my arms today

Fantastic day in great company.
