Ravensthorpe 2-8-07
After the recent reports of Ravo producing fish on the top I decided it was time I gave it a go so I arranged a 1/2 day boat. Eventually arrived at about 3pm and headed for the top corner by the causeway. There was a slight ripple which disappeared all together by the time we got to our destination. Nevertheless there was the odd fish showing so I tackled up with a golden brown hooper on the top, golden olive straight buzzer in the middle and a fiery brown suspender on the point as there were a few golden dun and large red buzzers hatching off.
As soon as the ripple picked up again we were in to fish, the most productive spots being drifts above and below the island (submerged at present). The wind was mainly blowing diagonally in to the over flow side of the dam. We ended up with 10 fish to the boat with a similar amount of on/offs. Left the water by 7pm.
All in all a great days top of the water sport with virtually every fish in the 2-3lb+ bracket and all with full tail and attitude to match. It was great to see fish moving on the top with a purpose.
