Farmoor 2nd August
Had a catch and release boat today (great value, £30 two rods); looked like ideal conditions, overcast and slight ripple but we only had a couple of fish on buzzers, taken on the hang, by midday. The wind picked up and we decided to motor upwind to the inlet corner, which now had a good ripple. The water here was much cleaner- downwind had a lot of colour and bright green algae.A few fish started to move, the swifts appeared and we had a couple on the buzzers, sub- surface. When wind lanes started to form we moved 20m to cover the fish that were working them- that paid off nicely.A red shuttlecock. fished low in the film was taken confidently and I ended up with seven fish before they all went down about 3.30. The fish were great quality and fought like tigers, bar the two I caught in the dirty water, which came in like lambs. We saw a few on the fry, but not in numbers worth targeting. All in all a satisfying day- we left at 4.30 but I wouldn't be surprised if there was another rise later.Farmoor seems to have fish that behave like they used to, ie rise when the buzzers hatch, work the wind lanes etc.
To be recommended, apart from the tracker they give you that bleeps all bloody day!!
