Moustique

I understood you had changed your user name and that your day on Stocks lived upto it.

what was the dry fly comp outcome?:
ps if Moustique's catch rates get any worse he will be downgraded to tea slave (earl grey of course) although his casting has improved

Sport: Today saw the Annual Dry Lines Competition at Stocks and this year it was sponsored by Greys and Lureflash. We had a great turn out, with 46 anglers taking to the water. This competition was fished with floating lines only; over two four hour sessions with an hour break in the middle for a buffet lunch. (Matt put on a great spread)! We had prizes down two third place in each session, for the overall biggest fish and a prize for the over all winner, which was the angler with lowest combined ranking over the two sessions. The results were as follows:

Prizes

2007 DRY LINES CHAMPION:

Alistair Beaumont 9’6’ 7# G-TEC

AM.

1st Mark Jones 10’ 5# Streamflex

2nd Jim Hunter G-TEC Reel 7/8#

3rd Phil Burgess Changeable Polaroids

PM

1st Steve Welsh 10’ 5# Streamflex

2nd Richard Hood G-TEC Reel 7/8#

3rd Rob Frame Changeable Polaroids

Best Fish

John Foster 3lbs 3oz Greys GRXi Reel

46 competitors caught 96 trout. The best tactics were dries and black or olive lures, the best areas were Newclose Bay, Ben’s Beach and The Willows. Out of the competition but worthy of a mention were Len Marchant and boat partner they fished dry Bibios and Kate Mclarens to take 13 trout off the top in Newclose Bay.

The bank fishermen had some good sport today. Top of the bill was Roy and Ray Dickenson who fished black and olive lures along Ben’s Beach to tempt 15 good trout. They said that they could have had twice as many. They varied their retrieve depending on the cloud cover from a fast strip to a slow figure of eight. Tight Lines Ben

Jav07, at least you entered the Comp, I thought about it then bottled out! Next time you may drop on feeding fish and win something!

As Harry says; "It is better to fish and blank than never to have fished at all"!
Not sure if that lets' me off the hook?

I think in another week or so Stocks will suddenly start fishing it's head off!

Meanwhile, maybe we should start a Stocks Blankers Club!
3 consecutive blanks and you get Lifetime Membership!
